HOUSING

When it is time and if you plan to live on Campus in the Fall of 2024 you must complete a roommate questionnaire and a housing agreement. You will get a Notification from Salem when it is time to fill these out!

What do I do if I'd like to request special housing or dining accommodations?

Who do I talk to if I need help with something regarding my room?

One of the great things about Salem College is that there is always someone for you to turn to with a question or just to talk!

Area Coordinators (ACs) are full-time, professional staff members who are responsible for the general management and supervision of your residence hall while providing support in response to community concerns. Your Area Coordinator is there to assist you with academic, personal, and social concerns.

Resident Assistants (RAs) are trained student staff who live with you on your hall and assist you during the year. Your RA is there to make your adjustment to college easier and to serve as a source for general information about residence hall living and campus events. Your RA will work with you and your hallmates to plan programs and events throughout the year.

What's in my room? What's in my residence hall?

There are many ways to personalize your room and make it your own! Your room will be furnished with twin-sized beds, two desks, two chairs, and two dressers with four drawers each.

Each residence hall will have a lobby and a lounge. The lobby is off the main entrance and is used to entertain guests. The lounge, on the basement level of the building, has cable television and a DVD player. Lounges are typically used as gathering places for meetings and as a place to study.

All residence halls have common kitchen spaces, and each floor has a microwave for students’ use. Kitchens are completely free to students, you just need to bring your pans and food! Vending and ice machines are located in a central area in each building. Each residence hall has laundry facilities with machines that are free for students.

What can I bring for my dorm room?

What should I leave at home?

What do I do if I'd like to bring an Emotional Support Animal? Or, a Service Animal?

While pets (other than fish in small tanks) are not permitted on Salem College property, some students may require the use of service animals to have a successful experience. A service animal is an animal that receives specific training in order to perform tasks for a person with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. This may include, but is not limited to, assisting an individual who has a vision impairment with navigation tasks, alerting an individual who has a hearing impairment to people or noises, retrieving items for an individual with mobility issues, or alerting an individual regarding medical conditions such as seizures.  To notify us that you intend to bring a service animal with you, please contact ida.davis@salem.edu

An emotional support animal is an animal that has been prescribed by a healthcare or mental health provider and plays a significant role in the treatment of an individual with a diagnosed health condition. To notify us that you would like to bring an Emotional Support Animal onto campus, please see read and fill out this document
